The Barton Family Celebrates 100 Years of Ranching Heritage

In 1912 Perry Franklin Barton established his 131 acre ranch along the banks of the Stanislaus River just outside the town of Escalon, California. Last Saturday the Barton family returned to the original site where Perry planted the first walnut trees to celebrate 100 years of rich family history… along with almost 300 guests.

Research Finds Walnuts Rank Highest in Antioxidant Content Among Nuts

During this time of year when diet and exercise are a top priority, more and more people are grabbing a handful of walnuts. According to new research published in Food and Function, researchers from The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa., compared the amount of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols in nine types of roasted and raw nuts and two types of peanut butter, in an attempt to "crack" the antioxidant code.
